Saturdays: March 3 and March 10

9 am – 4 pm

 

Would you be interested in attending a 2-day retreat that guides you through an overview of the Bible?  Over the past year more than 100 parishioners have attended an 8-week Bible Study program. For the benefit of people who are unable to attend an 8-week study we are offering a condensed study with the same material – but spread over 2 Saturdays.

Each Saturday would offer 4 sessions of the Bible Study.  You would have an hour of quiet time to read the designated chapters in the bible which will be followed by watching a 30-minute DVD – which further explains the material you had just read.

The instruction on DVD is done by Jeff Cavins a nationally known speaker on Catholic radio and television and an outstanding teacher of the scriptures.

Going more deeply into the scriptures would be a great Lenten practice and can give you a thirst for more reading and studying of the Bible.

Bring your bible, a bag lunch and a friend!  Materials for the study are $20.

The first Youth 4 Christ at St. Mary’s was a huge success with 50 middle schoolers in attendance! We can’t wait to do it again in March. We’ll have faith, food, and fellowship. All kids in grades 6-8 are welcome. Bring a friend!

Embodied Christian Spirituality – Moving from Head to Heart

As God incarnate, Jesus Christ reconciled heaven and earth, giving us the hope of the resurrection of our own bodies. In the Christian tradition, body and soul are united, forming a complete person. Yet, many of us feel alienated from our physicality, resisting our own humanity. How does a disconnection from the body limit our spiritual growth and our prayer? How might we integrate body, heart, and mind in deeper relationship with Christ?

Sr. Joann Heinritz, CSJ
Sister Joann holds an MA in Spirituality from the Jesuit School of Theology in Berkeley. Her experience as a certified Massage Practitioner has led her to passion for embodied spirituality and holistic well-being. She has studied eco-spirituality, Celtic spirituality, and thai massage. Sister Joann has given retreats and workshops both nationally and internationally, empowering individuals and groups to explore ways to become whole and holy. She also volunteers as a massage therapist at The Friendly Place, a women’s shelter in Oakland.
